The School of Law at the University of South Australia Business School and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission are pleased to host the 17th Annual Competition Law and Economics Workshop.
The Workshop is designed to provide a high-level forum for debate on competition policy, one that twins practice and theory, law and economics, domestic and international best practices in the field.
This year’s Workshop will be held at the Stamford Grand, Glenelg on Friday 18 October and Saturday 19 October, and includes expert national and international panellists and speakers.
This year’s Workshop will explore the evolving role of the Competition and Consumer Act (Cth)(CCA), including in addressing broader policy concerns around data and privacy. Reflecting calls globally for regulators to do more, international and domestic experts will explore the role of competition and consumer law in identifying and addressing emerging issues, including through market studies and inquiries, and whether there are limits to the public policy challenges that it can solve.
The Workshop will also include sessions focusing on merger litigation and interacting with the ACCC.
We are also pleased to announce that the following competition experts will present at the Workshop this year:
Professor Maurice Stucke, University of Tennessee College of Law
Robert O’Donoghue QC, Brick Court Chambers
Professor Christopher Yoo,University of Pennsylvania Law School
The Honourable Justice John Middleton, Judge, Federal Court of Australia and President, Australian Competition Tribunal
The Workshop will run from 9am on Friday 18 October, until 1pm on Saturday 19 October. The Workshop dinner will be held on the Friday evening from 6pm at the Glenelg Pier Hotel, 18 Holdfast Promenade, Glenelg
